The launch for Google’s video game streaming platform Stadia launched back in November which felt a lot longer if I had to be honest, but Google is back in the start of 2020 to ensure the gaming market that the service has plenty to anticipate leading to this summer actually. According to a message relayed to the press earlier today, the tech giant is planning to release more than ten exclusive titles to Stadia before July of this year.
Going into more detail from the note passed on by Google, the firm tells that 2020 is planned to receive roughly 120 games altogether with about one-tenth of them being unique to Stadia just in the first half of the year: leaving the implication that the remainder of this year could offer about the same or possibly even more titles only available through Google-owned Stadia.
Looking at our upcoming lineup, we are tracking more than 120 games coming to Stadia in 2020, and are targeting more than 10 games in the first half of this year alone that will be only available on Stadia when they launch.
It is unsure what these titles will be unfortunately atop of what current first-party development team Stadia Games and Entertainment will offer to the table either. With the recent addition of Typhoon Games, the studio responsible for the upcoming Journey to the Savage Planet, it can be a fair prediction that the team might have something in mind for Stadia later on in 2020. Google also disclosed in the message to be in working with different teams to bring more unique titles to Stadia: “We’re working with our partners to share more on those games soon.”
Currently, the only exclusive title branded for Stadia is Tequila Works’ Gylt, but it is reassuring that more projects are being processed to arrive on the platform later this year. Perhaps Google and Sega could be already discussing a unique title for Stadia when reflecting back to a report ahead of the announcement for the streaming service, only time will tell for that to be true.
What developers would you like to see be involved with Stadia to introduce exclusive games to the platform?
Stadia is available now for PC, mobile devices, and television.
