Over the duration of March, Square Enix has been pressing on the approaching 10 year anniversary of the action hank and slash, NieR. This coming April will mark a decade since the original 2010 title launched and the publisher shares that something fans will like is just on the horizon in the very near future.
Now in a new announcement trailer that was posted early this morning, Square Enix reveals that NieR is in fact on its way back with a western release slated for current hardware. Now under the alias ‘NieR Replicant,’ this will be a full on remaster of the original game.
You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:
When the initial game originally released, there were two versions that shipped for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3: NieR Gesalt and NieR Replicant. Both while standing on the same foundation offered different adjustments like a different main protagonist. For this case regarding the remaster, it is safe to assume players will be receiving the latter from Sony’s prior hardware.
The game also being developed from Cavia, the team responsible for the mainline Drakengard series that NieR spins-off from, developed the last gen game. But this time around as the game returns, NieR Automata Director Yoko Taro, Composer Keiichi Okabe, and Producer Yosuke Saito will be returning to work on the remaster.
“Ver.1.22474487139… invites players into a dark, apocalyptic world as they join a brother’s captivating quest to cure his sister of a deadly disease – a quest which will in turn make them question everything,” the game’s description reads from the video. Elsewhere, RPG site Senior Staff Writer @HDKirin on Twitter revealed through a Famitsu interview that the game will be fully voiced and to feature the game’s score being re-recorded alongside new music as well.
