This past Tuesday is the commencement of the Valorant Closed Beta which means yesterday was the last day for those attempting to get access to the exclusive playtest through watching streams of the game online or luckily being gifted a key for your way in. If you were unfortunately unable to do so, the only other option is to watch streamers dabble in the closed beta for the time being.

And with just the first day of Valorant’s presence in public hands, the game has swiftly climbed the most viewed titles on Twitch. It was reported yesterday that the game has accumulated roughly 1.7 million concurrent viewers in less than 24 hours. While the game is sporting impressive numbers, Valorant did not break any records: sitting alongside Fortnite’s Black Hole event at 1.7 million and League of Legends 2019 World Championship at 1.75 million, Niko Partners’ David “ZhugeEX” Ahmad shares.

Prior to the arrival of the Closed Beta, it was disclosed that Riot Games would be collaborating with Twitch to establish a Twitch Rivals event for the game, which later happened to be true. However, despite known individuals in the gaming industry participating in the show, Riot Games went to clarify that the developer did not make any agreements to promote the game directly.

One unnamed Riot Games employee who spoke with Kotaku told that the company did not pay influencers to promote the game. Instead, partnering with prolific streamers and players by releasing certain gameplay footage gave the game the edge prior to arriving on Twitch. As of this morning, the game is sitting at 1.2 million on Twitch, but the game could possibly overtake the initial milestone in the coming days.

Valorant is scheduled to release for PC later in summer 2020.
