This week surely came as a surprise regarding Cyberpunk 2077 announcements with developer CD Projekt Red announcing that the game will be expecting its second delay of its development lifespan. The Polish studio unveils that due to bugs that still need to be squashed, the September-scheduled title will now be shipping in the fall of mid November. This already following the delay from late April to the middle of September.

Howbeit, the firm less than a day after the announcement was made has shared that players who plan on getting the game for the current onslaught of consoles will be able to install the game on day one for both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 for no additional cost. The team shared the news on Twitter to clarify looming speculation that tailed yesterday’s announcement.

The new slew of information actually sprouts from a recent investor call that CD Projekt Red held earlier on. In that, the developer tells that the coming next-generation update for both systems will be available at launch. Originally, CD Projekt Red shared that the upgrade would not be available when the new hardware arrives – just the backwards compatible version. The studio at the time did not disclose if PlayStation 5 would receive the version then.

“It will look better on the next-generation consoles from day one. The technicality behind it is a little different from how you would describe […] I can confirm that will not be the final update – at some point we’re gonna have a more robust update for the next-gens which were are planning to give free of charge to anybody who purchases PS4 or Xbox One version,” CD Projekt Red comments on the new update.

The studio concludes by sharing that while the more ambitious upgrade of for the next-generation consoles will be arriving later on as expected, CD Projekt Red confirms that update will not be available for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 4 until the following year – 2021.
