Call Of Duty, Titanfall FPS Icon Vince Zampella Confirmed Dead In Car Crash

At Electronic Arts, the publisher’s golden goose is Respawn Entertainment. Back in 2020, the firm described the acquisition for the Titanfall developer to be a “classic example” for a fulfilling deal. The talent is strong with leadership showing success in its release even prior to the studio’s founding. Of its studio heads. Vince Zampella is recognized for his efforts shipping some of the most recognized Medal of Honor & Call of Duty titles in what’s considered the ‘prime’ for each franchise.

Recently, the game studio has been seen to a fixed team on its live-service title Apex Legends. However, other attempts from the game studio have met swift demise. Earlier this year, it was reported an incubator project was shelved after work began years prior. Additionally, word on a Star Wars Mandalorian project was also canned as well previously.

And although work on another Star Wars Jedi title is underway, the team could be producing more. Amid hopes for a new Titanfall, it was reported by NBC Los Angeles that studio co-founder Vince Zampella has passed away in a Ferrari accident earlier on Sunday. The single-car collision was said to take place in San Gabriel Mountains where the vehicle drove off the road and collided with a concrete barrier; ejecting the passenger and trapped the drive in an engulfed fire.

Zampella alongside his involvement in running Respawn Entertainment has also been spearheading operations for Battlefield as well. With his leadership, the newest release – Battlefield 6 – has met impressive results in player engagement. The open beta alone recorded over 550,000 players then and the full release broke records on Steam & sold over 7 million units within the first week.

As for some of Zampella’s lesser received work at Respawn Entertainment, he still managed to win big in other regards. The Meta Quest 2 release Medal Of Honor: Above And Beyond won an Oscar for its documentary ‘Colette’ back in 2021. The VR release is Respawn’s lowest received release thus far.
