The Devil May Cry has been on hold for more than a decade, if ignoring the 2012 franchise reboot, leaving fans on the edge for what to expect next in the journey for Nero and Dante. With its reveal back in June, more has been revealed from characters, to gameplay, and the highly detailed engine for the game.

With its intense and off the walls combat, players will have a variety of ways to play the next installment in the series with three characters to play as. On top of different fight styles to choose in-game, players will also have a wide selection of upgrades for either of the three playable characters. According to GameSpot, during their demo of the game they discovered microtransactions present in the game.

When at any Divinity Statue placed throughout the game, players will have the opportunity to purchase red orbs with real-world money. Director Hideaki Itsuno told GameSpot on the circumstance:

If they want to save time and just want to get all the stuff at once, those people can do that. But on the other hand I don’t feel you have to get all the moves.

Giving players more of an option to play however they want. Itsuno following up stating “You should be able to play it the way you want to play it”. This isn’t surprising when looking back at Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition as microtransactions are in the game as well. Hopefully this won’t affect scores on leaderboards as being based off skill and time.

Devil May Cry V will release on March 5, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
