Earlier this past Wednesday developer Treyarch and publisher Activision took the spotlight momentarily to share a closer glimpse at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The game announced back in August received its official debut for 2020’s installment as the Black Ops team retraces its roots to the Cold War on the late 20th century. The firm disclosed that the game would directly follow the events of the titular 2010 game an follow the remaining cast into the 1980s.
Upon the finer details of the game that was spared when initially reported, Treyarch did not provide a clearer viewpoint on the game. Although there was a later multiplayer reveal that took place earlier this month, the team only offered a trailer leaving parts of the game still raw for hungry followers. But that changed when the studio shared a teaser for one segment of the story campaign during the recent PlayStation 5 showcase.
You can watch the teaser demo in the video below:
In addition to the leveled glimpse at Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch announced an exclusive goodie for PlayStation 4 players: a weekend-long Alpha for the game’s multiplayer. Similar to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, users on Sony’s current system can indulge in a unique online playtest for this weekend on Treyarch’s coming project.
The alpha went live earlier today (September 18) at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST and will be running its course from now until September 20 at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST. In addition to all users given access to the alpha, Activision shares that all regions are not required to own PlayStation Plus to get in the fight online; excluding Germany. The client in total runs for 25 GB.
Those that participate in the playtest will be handed a unique Calling Card that can be interchanged between Warzone and the later Black Ops Cold War. This current alpha is a separate client to the October-scheduled beta which will provide its own special in-game goodies for players also.
