With the announcement of the PlayStation Classic, many fans were skeptical of what to expect from Sony when it came to backwards compatibility as it’s absent on the current PlayStation 4. With fan favorites mentioned following the retro console’s reveal like Final Fantasy VII and Tekken 3, the complete roster of games have been revealed by Sony.
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- Cool Boarders 2
- Destruction Derby
- Final Fantasy VII
- Grand Theft Auto
- Intelligent Qube
- Jumping Flash
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mr Driller
- Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
- Rayman
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
- Revelations: Persona
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syphon Filter
- Tekken 3
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
- Twisted Metal
- Wild Arms
Just like other throwback consoles, all titles mentioned will be pre-downloaded on the console. Included with the miniature PSX comes two controllers, HDMI cable and internal memory card to save your progress. The 45% smaller console will go for a price of $99.
Surprisingly enough, for the price tag being $40 more than other competing Classic editions, the vast amount of third party titles presented could make up for the steep cost. The mini-console will definitely be a hot buy as it arrives this holiday season, and is welcomed amongst the rest of the other miniaturized platforms.
The PlayStation Classic will be available in the U.S. and Canada on December 3, 2018.
