How to Get All Materials in Marathon

Marathon offers distinct types of materials for the players to grab during a run. They are not used during combat directly, but they unlock upgrades, buy gear, and improve your character through factions. The exact container they appear in changes every match, so you must search the area each run.

Standard, Enhanced, Deluxe, Superior, and Prestige are the rarities of these materials. They go to your vault after the successful extraction, but you lose them if you die before extraction. Each faction has an upgrade tree, where you spend materials and credits to unlock nodes that give benefits.

How Materials Work in Marathon

Materials are the collectible resources you found during the run in Marathon. You loot them from containers, events, enemies, or locked rooms while playing a match. After collecting the useful items, you extract them to keep them. Once extracted from the exfil points, you go into your vault inventory and use them on upgrades or trades.

The exact location of the materials changes each match, so they spawn randomly in containers in different POIs. Materials are mainly used for faction upgrades to increase storage, bonuses, or new gear access. Rare materials are required for high-tier upgrades and endgame content. Higher tiers are much harder to find as they appear in special events of dangerous POIs.
