Insomniac Games’ Stormland Not Scheduled For Release On PlayStation VR

The recent announcement of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s acquisition of video game developer Insomniac Games was one surprise that some saw from a mile away while other hoped wouldn’t become a reality. While it makes sense that the Marvel’s Spider-Man developer is now a first-party studio under the PlayStation brand, some on the opposing Xbox One had patiently hoped that the team would eventually get the chance to work on an sequel for Sunset Overdrive.

Regardless, the purchase by Sony’s publishing firm was certainly a major buy for the platform’s upcoming lineup leading into the next generation as Insomniac is already in PlayStation’s DNA with Ratchet & Clank and the most recent marvel title. However, despite the studio’s new ownership, that does not mean current projects by the developer is now coming to PlayStation.

According to Stormland’s Twitter account, the upcoming virtual reality title from Insomniac Games, the VR title is only scheduled to come to Oculus Rift when launching.

Which took many anticipating fans by surprise as Insomniac fans on PlayStation VR were hopeful of seeing a port coming to the PlayStation platform following the studio’s acquisition earlier this month. Being very unfortunate for those on Sony’s VR platform, this will also mark the last potential non-exclusive title by Insomniac Games which is saddening for fans on competing platforms.
