While the Super Monkey Ball IP has been steadily dormant for the past decade, Sega decided to undo the inattentive damage to the series with the 2018 release of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD. To get the franchise’s foot back in the door, the team has done so in preparation for a new release that the team hinted at following its release at the time.

Later on, a rating for ‘Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania’ appeared earlier this spring over in Australia. So, it was a matter of time before Sega decides to pull the shade to unveil the next mainline entry in the series. And during the latest Nintendo Direct just this past June, Sega revealed the titular title and its set to arrive this fall.

In a new trailer uploaded on Wednesday, Sega shares that Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania is crossing over with Jet Set Radio as the character Beat will be playable in the coming title. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Let’s get scratchin’! Beat from Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio is coming to Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania as a playable character, free and unlockable on all platforms through normal gameplay at launch,” reads the description for the trailer revealing the Sega property crossover.

This is certainly not the first time that Sega crossed the streams in terms of its franchises – specifically Super monkey Ball. During the up and coming for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD at the time, the achievement list for the game revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog will be a playable character. Now the same is done for Jet Set Radio’s Beat in the newest game.

Other namely crossovers that Sega orchestrated as well previously includes the memonic ‘Sanic’ that was illustrated on a t-shirt for Sonic Forces a couple of years back as a free DLC. You can read the full report by heading here.
