The Moss series on PlayStation VR has remained a hallmark franchise for the platform. Upon the arrival of the platform altogether, Moss stood out as a definitive reason to purchase the virtual reality peripheral. Even more, it was no surprise that one of the platform’s most notable titles would be receiving a sequel later in 2022 with Moss: Book II.
Around that time, developer Polyarc listened to its fans. Atop of the game being playable for the original PlayStation VR system, the game studio rolled out a native version for PlayStation VR 2 later that December for the sequel & the original title. While a strong contender to remain exclusive to PlayStation, fans were surprised with the announcement of Moss: The Forgotten Relic. Not just another entry, but a multiplatform release across all major systems this time.
And on Thursday, July 16th, Moss: The Forgotten Relic officially launches. Polyarc describes the new release as a “handcrafted fantasy adventure for PlayStation 5, without the requirement of a VR headset.” You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:
“At the heart of our story is Quill, a tiny mouse with extraordinary courage who dreams of greatness beyond the safety of her forest settlement. Clever yet untested, she is always eager to prove she’s capable of something greater. It’s hard not to root for her from the moment you meet her. Her life changes when she discovers a long-lost Green Glass relic, awakening an ancient bond with a mysterious spirit companion: you,” Polyarc community head Amy Pantea says.
“That single discovery sets in motion an adventure far greater than she ever imagined. Together, you embark on an adventure in the world of Moss. And spoilers: it’s not a simple walk in the woods. Ancient ruins tower overhead. Forgotten kingdoms have fallen into decay. Creatures many times Quill’s size lurk around every corner, and danger is never far away. Every obstacle is a reminder that the hero’s journey is not an easy one, no matter the size. She may be one of the smallest heroes you’ll ever meet, but she never stops believing there’s a way forward. It’s hard not to root for her, help her, and protect her every step of the way.”
