It surely has been quite a big wait for players anticipating when the next playable Hero will be arriving to Overwacth and the first character for 2020, Echo, has officially arrived this week. Initially revealed nearly a month ago, the neural-networked addition is now out for anyone to play.
Echo is yet another flight-bounded Hero, but offers an array of digital-like abilities that makes her standout. Ranging from the energized Tri-Shot, devastating Focusing Beam, and the Duplicating ultimate ability which allows the player to mask themselves as any hero playing on the stage.
In addition to the next face to grace the cast of Overwatch Heroes, Blizzard Entertainment revealed that players can partake in week-long celebration event to obtain niché in-game items.
However, instead of participating by actually playing Overwatch the developer revealed that fans can earn exclusive Echo-themed items and cosmetics by watching a certain duration of related streams on Twitch. To obtain said digital goodies, players will simply have to link their Blizzard account to their Twitch account to redeem the in-game loot.
Players will have to watch between two, four, and six hours of certain streams to register qualified to receive the exclusive items. Additionally, there will also be a hosted Overwatch Flash Ops: Echo Showdown taking place this weekend online which players can participate for the chance to win $25,000 prize pool in both North America and Europe.
In other competitive news regarding Overwatch, it was reported last month that the hosted, titular Homesteads for the Overwatch League will be cancelled fo the remainder of March and full duration of April. You can freshen up on the full report by heading here.
