Exploring the different regions of the ongoing Pokémon franchise does require players to anticipate mileage across more than a handful of different handhelds that the games shipped for over the past two decades. However, there is another solution: you can collect the same Pokémon straight from your smartphone. Yes, I’m talking about Pokémon Go.
Since 2016, developer Niantic has transformed Pokémon from being bound to Nintendo’s plethora of platforms to the storefronts of The App Store & Google Play Store. And with that has delivered respective regions to Pokémon Go as time progressed. In late 2020 the team welcomed the Kalos Region to the game and before that was the Unova Region in fall 2019 even earlier.
From the Sunday-held Pokémon Presents livestream, Niantic reveals that the Alola Region is coming “soon”. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:
“More Pokémon originally found in the Alola region of the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games are coming to Pokémon GO! During the Season of Alola, you can look forward to three months full of events highlighting a variety of Pokémon that will be making their Pokémon GO debuts!” the team pens in the announcement post.
So far, elements of Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon has already surfaced for Pokémon Go. If you login right now, you will notice Alolan Exeggutor already populating the world. But, that is only the start with a planned season dedicated to the Alola Region coming with information to be revealed in the approaching weeks.
Additionally, The Pokémon Company used its time with the reveal to showcase the next mainline Pokémon installment: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet. The firm showcased the three new starters for the Spain-inspired region with a late 2022 release window. You can read the full report by heading here.
