Although Nintendo Switch continues to increasingly sell off store shelves at an more impressive rate than even the next-generation Xbox & PlayStation as reported this past holiday, there are claims that a new improved model is on the way to be delivered. However, time and time again did no such announcement take place. Even more, Nintendo clarified there is no announcement anytime soon for new hardware as indicated back in January.
However, one report from Bloomberg indicated that the aforementioned upgraded model will be revealed later this year. But, as said already, many claims made prior – even by Bloomberg – did never bear any fruits to sink your teeth into. But, the publication leading into June told that the hardware would be revealed just short of the scheduled E3 Direct. But, we know that is not true.
On Tuesday, Nintendo officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch OLED model. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“The new Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is a great option for players who want to experience the new vibrant screen when playing in handheld and tabletop mode,” Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America CEO said in the press release. “With the addition of this new model to the Nintendo Switch family of systems, people have an additional choice of a system that best fits the gaming experience they desire – whether it’s Nintendo Switch (OLED model), Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite.”
As for the integrity of this new this new model internally, Nintendo reveals that the new memory is to ship with 6f GB of storage. Additionally, the new OLED display will also present a larger presentation of the game when playing with improved visuals and performance to some degree. Most interesting is the improved kickstand that stretches across the entire device, light-up dock, and new wired LAN port for the dock too.
Nintendo elaborates that there will be two different bundles for the Nintendo Switch OLED Model: White Set (white Joy-Con controllers; a black main unit; white dock) and Neon Red/Neon Blue Set (Neon Red and Neon blue Joy-Con controllers; a black main unit; black dock).
