Although a beloved IP, Panzer Dragoon has been on the back burner for too long despite the reach the original releases had. It wasn’t until 2018 that publisher Forever Entertainment confirmed that remakes for the first two games would be on the way. The first remake – Panzer Dragoon Remake – officially arrived to Nintendo Switch in 2020.
This later went on to lead a new deal with Nintendo to ship more titles on the platform as well. Similarly, Square Enix also arranged a new partnership with Forever Entertainment on new remake projects as well. However, despite promise for a Panzer Dragoon remake duology, it still hasn’t delivered on its word. Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake was announced in spring 2021 and is still in development.
This August, Forever Entertainment shipped House of the Dead 2: Remake shipped with promises for a physical version on Nintendo Switch later this fall. But ahead of Tokyo Game Show, it was confirmed that the long-promised Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake is still happening and is on the way for even newer platforms now.
“Visitors at the @RainyFrogGames booth will be able to play the demo of Panzer Dragoon Zwei: Remake for the very first time,” the developer teased. Answering a reply on X, it added: “Release date is still to be announced! Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.” So roughly half a decade and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake is still happening.
Amid other big showcases that will take place at Tokyo Game Show, Xbox has confirmed its presence at the show for this month. A livestream is to take place on September 25th this coming Thursday to layout new announcements for its platform. You can read the full report by heading here.
