When entertaining what PUBG: Battleground has to offer, the game flipped the script like many popular premium games before it: going free-to-play. The firm announced that the title will be following the new business model at the start of 2022 and has not looked back since the transition. Even more, changes was also made to the lore respectively for another Krafton title in development.

If you may recall, The Callisto Protocol is one IP in development from Dead Space producer Glen Schofield at Striking Distance. Originally, the game was intended to tie to the greater PUBG: Battlegrounds universe it was said. However a new statement from Schofield this spring now confirms this is not the case anymore.

So, what’s new with the battle royale then? Well recently PUBG: Battlegrounds launched its newest season and welcomed a new Survival Pass alongside a new urban map, Deston. You can watch the gameplay trailer in the video below:

“Bankrupt and ruined by a catastrophic hurricane, Deston was left to rot – what remains are hulking desalination plants, overgrown algae farms, and flooded urban sprawl. However, this does not mean the city is completely empty… now these lands serve a whole different purpose,” the website reads. The new update also includes a slew of additions including the Ascender, Airboat vehicle, and the O12 shotgun.

Elsewhere previously, game creator Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene announced his departure from the venture. Since then he formed PlayerUnknown Productions with work already commencing on the first project. Details on what is to come has yet to be shared. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you excited for the new map coming to PUBG: Battlegrounds?

PUBG: Battlegrounds is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Android, iOS, and Stadia.
