Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines have announced that Fallout 76 for Nintendo Switch “wasn’t doable” despite the list of titles already present on the Nintendo eShop.
At a panel for this year’s PAX Australia, the marketing executive has stated that the upcoming title from Bethesda Game Works will not be coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console. In addition to the reveal of the online post-apocalyptic title, Hines answered that the studio always suggests bringing their project to the platform, but for 76 it couldn’t be done.
Hines stated on the topic:
“The Switch is something I can say with certainty that it’s a part of every conversation with every dev we have now about what we’re doing going forward because we consider it to be a viable platform,” Hines said. “If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible. Fallout 76 is not because it just wasn’t doable. But honestly, there is no game in development that we haven’t had a conversation about [bringing it to Switch]. ‘Does this work on the Switch, do you have a plan for the Switch?’ It’s not a mandate. Everything we do has to be developer-led, but it’s something we want to make sure is on folks’ radar.”
Unfortunate that the anticipated title isn’t possible to bring to Nintendo’s platform, Hines commented that Bethesda recognizes the Switch as a big opportunity to bring titles to. “What we have seen compels us to say, ‘[Switch] is a viable platform for the kind of things we do going forward.'”.
As the publisher already revealed months back that the tabletop title influenced by the world of Elder Scrolls, Elder Scrolls Legends along with the highly anticipated Doom Eternal will be arriving on the Switch in the near future. Hines closed the conversation mentioning that the “new Wolfenstein” will be getting a Switch version unlike 76.
Those who are interested in getting early hands on for the online vault dwelling title, Bethesda laid out all upcoming beta sessions for the next week.
Fallout 76 will be available on November 14, 2018 for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4.
