Gunnar Optiks is the leading eyewear company in gaming and has been known to do unique collaborations with video game franchises. Most notably, they’ve done a set of Fallout Vault 33 Glasses we previously reviewed. This time around, for Season 2 of Fallout, they released the Brotherhood of Steel glasses, and soon, there will be the Lucky 38 glasses.
We were given the opportunity by Gunnar Optiks to review the new Brotherhood of Steel glasses that are inspired by the faction featured in the Fallout game series and in the show on Prime Video.
Here is the list of features you get with the glasses:
- Weathered gunmetal aviator frame inspired by Brotherhood armor
- Flexible spring hinges
- GUNNAR patented lens technology
- G-Shield Plus lens coating: anti-reflective & smudge resistant
- Blocks harmful blue light and 100% UV
- Officially licensed Amazon Studios® Fallout® glasses
What’s Included With Brotherhood of Steel Glasses
- Collectors Glasses Case
- Collectors Microfiber Pouch
- Collectors Microfiber Cleaning Cloth
- 12-month Warranty
The Collectors Case is one to keep along with the cleaning cloth featuring Maximus, the main character who represents the brotherhood.
The Brotherhood of Steel glasses from Gunnar has unique style, of course. It features the industrial aesthetics as you’d expect with the faction. At first glance, if anyone saw them, they’d think something might be wrong with them, but nope, it’s all part of the style.
The lens my pair arrived with was the Amber Max, which gives a very orange look to the glasses. It’s nothing bad, I must say, and something I’d have to get used to.
Immediately after putting the new shades on, I noticed the lack of tightness. This is something that could be fixed. However, the overall build of the side of the frames felt weak.
When talking about the performance of these Brotherhood of Steel glasses, it still has that Gunnar Optik magic. They work great when playing games on any screen, and there are no complaints about them.
Overall Impressions – Should you buy?
If you are the biggest Fallout fan and possibly cosplay the Brotherhood of Steel glasses from Gunnar Optiks are perfect for you. I couldn’t bring this out in public for appearance reasons. I would prefer to turn these into sunglasses, which Gunnar allows you to do. These aren’t everyday glasses, and in my opinion, the Fallout Vault 33 glasses would rank above these.
At the end of the day, these are one-of-a-kind glasses that you can’t get anywhere else. Gunnar Optiks has always been about quality, and they prove it here as well.
