SNK announced on Tuesday that it has established VS Studio SNK, a newly founded game studio led by Katsuhiro Harada, who is known for his work on the Tekken series for decades. The industry veteran announced in December that he was leaving Bandai Namco after 30 years.
VS Studio SNK was created on May 1, 2026 and will be headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. SNK will support the launch of the new studio and plans to make it a consolidated subsidiary. The new studio and SNK will collaborate on game software development to further strengthen their combined creative capabilities.
“We are pleased to announce the launch of our new game development studio, “VS Studio.” VS Studio’s philosophy is “Beyond tradition, crafted to perfection.” We will combine technology, sensibility, and world-class expertise to pursue the ultimate. From a free, open, and spacious environment, we will generate new ideas and create memorable games. We established this studio to bring this vision to life,” Katsuhiro Harada stated.
No other details have been revealed about what the studio is planning. It’s too early to tell, obviously, but we do know it’ll be a new fighting game.
Yasuyuki Oda, SNK Developer stated the following on working with Katsuhiro Harada:
“I am extremely proud to welcome Mr. Katsuhiro Harada, who has been a long-time friend and a worthy rival to us, into our group. We’ve long discussed the hypothetical scenario of working together, and now that dream has become a reality. To be honest, nothing has been decided yet, but I have no doubt that things will become even more exciting than ever before. We look forward to your continued support for SNK and VS Studio.”
Are you looking forward to what VS STudio will create?
