According to a recent post by Straight Up Films, thereĀ is a new Thief game by Edios Montreal in the making with a film adaptation of the game to follow the games release.
Recently there’s been a wave of several classic games such as Doom, Wolfenstein, Fallout and recently Prey being reimagined for this generations consoles and getting fairly high reviews when hitting the stores. But some also have fallen through the cracks like Duke Nukem Forever in 2011 and Thief in 2014. With news there’s going to be a new title in the series surprises me in how this will all go down once we actually see the game in action.
Stated in Straight Up Films post:
“Thief is an action epic poised to be the next great multi-platform franchise.
Originally released in 1998 by Eidos Interactive (Deus Ex) and distributed by Square Enix (Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy), the Thief series has spanned over fifteen years and four sequels continually retaining loyal audiences and attracting new fans with each iteration. Widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever created, a fifth sequel is currently in development to be released in step with this motion picture adaptation.
Steeped in the steam-punk world created by the video game, the film will tell a new chapter in the storied world of the seriesā hero.”
The film adaptation will be written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes, produced by the team of Marisa Polvino, Kate Cohen & Roy Lee and Sandra Condito as the Executive Producer for this action adventure.
As of right now there is now time frame for either the game nor the film. Any hope would possibly be E3 which is less than a month away. Stay tuned to Rectifygaming.com for more news on Thief.
