Cuphead Delicious Last Course DLC Delayed Again Targeting A 2021 Launch

While the game has gone silent, it certainly is not forgotten. Back in September 2018, Studio MDHR’s Cuphead shipped for Xbox & PC unveiling the charming world of hand-drawn visuals encapturing the era of 1930’s cartoons. The game while on a selection of systems did form a small cult following as fan art and other player recreations began to surface leading forward. For the future of Cuphead, more is said to come.

Studio MDHR announced that a new story expansion ‘Delicious Last Course’ will be arriving to the game when originally shared back at E3 2018 to ship in 2019. However, the game was then ushered to a 2020 release the year following after the developer told more time is necessary to capture the vision for the title. Since then, plenty else occurred for the title.

For one, Cuphead broke its Microsoft exclusivity clause as the title was then releasing for Nintendo Switch as well as PlayStation 4. Heck, the game also released for select Tesla vehicles for fans to connect a wireless controller to enjoy. Netflix even announced an animated series for the universe which just recently got its first snippet of footage.

Now on Wednesday this week, Studio MDHR announced that the ‘Delicious Last Course’ add-on will now be arriving later in 2021.

“While the Delicious Last Course is a continuation of Cuphead and Mugman’s grand adventure, it’s also a conclusion to the story that began on that fateful day at The Devil’s casino. In true Studio MDHR fashion, we aren’t content for this final chapter to be anything less than our best work. Throughout development, we’ve challenged ourselves to put everything we learned from making Cuphead into the quality The Delicious Last Course’s animation, design, and music.”

Meeting this standard had been extremely challenging for us amid the global pandemic that has affected so many of our developers. Rather than compromise our vision in response to COVID, we’ve made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Last Course until we are confident it will delight the Cuphead Community the way we feel it should.”

So for the time being, while the game is expected to release sometime in 2021, Studio MDHR is not prepared to disclose the approximate arrival for the Delicious Last Course. Thankfully, the expansion will ship to its fullest ability to bring a joyous experience as many anticipated the base game to be. One noted remark for Cuphead is that the titular hero made a cameo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Mii Fighter costume. You can read the full report by heading here.
