In concerns to Destiny 2, the game is becoming more accessible across its supported platforms as the game receives its next-generation versions just this week. While the game is playable, of course, through respected backwards compatibility programs on both platforms, the newest update unlocks new improvements for the pair of systems. That includes targeted 4K resolution alongside a solid 60 frames per second performance.
But that is not everything as there is also cross-play for Destiny 2. Well, at least between the console families currently. For now, Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Stadia play in their respected servers for the time being. But looking ahead, there is now confirmation that the game will receive full-on cross-platform play by next year.
In the latest Developer Update for Destiny 2, Bungie unveils that cross-play is scheduled to launch sometime in 2021 next year. The feature is included in a list of other scheduled additions that will be incorporated in Year 4 for the game: such as DDOS protection, Vault of Glass raid returning, and the addition of Transmog which is illustrated with screenshots in the post.
For now, the only implementation that bridges games currently is the cross-platform save feature which allows users to play their game on any platform at any given time. The feature essentially parallels systems already and opens to the idea of fully supported cross-platform play which many presumed to arrive eventually.
In anticipation for the next-generation version for Destiny 2, Bungie issued a new reveal for the first-person shooter – 120 frames per second support for matchmaking crucible.
