It was quite the surprise to learn that GhostWire: Tokyo despite the strong relationship between Bethasda & Microsoft would result with the Tango Gameworks project to be a unique release for PlayStation in its first year of launch. Of course, this came well before the acquisition of the game’s publisher which took place in September later that all.
But despite the pretense that the title would abandon its exclusive ties to Sony Interactive Entertainment after finding new ownership, it was later found out not to be the case. In an interview with Bloomberg in response to the publisher’s acquisition, Xbox lead Phil Spencer spares that the deal will be honored.
And still with the game being a marketed game for PlayStation 5, it is no surprise the when new information surfaces in a PlayStation trailer. At CES 2021, it is revealed that GhostWire: Tokyo is releasing later this October. You can watch the promo video below:
“Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part II footage captured on PS4. All other gameplay footage was captured on PS5, the subtext at the end of the promo reads. “Ghostwire Tokyo: October 2021”. Similarly, the trailer also presses that BlueTwelve Studio’s Stray is also shipping that same month later this fall.
In relevance to marketed title through PlayStation for Bethesda, the official PlayStation Store issued a new listing for Deathloop to come in May. The game was later verified for its release in spring. You can read the full report by heading here.
