State Of Decay 2 Upcoming Update Revamps Graphical Look For Classic Maps

Over at Undead Labs, the State of Decay team is currently curating efforts for its next major entry, State of Decay 3. While the title was revealed nearly two years ago coming this July, the developer is still hard at work on the forthcoming release. Most recently, the team disclosed through a job listing that the firm is working with Unreal Engine 5 for the third installment.

However, Undead Labs continues to remain busy with the ongoing support being poured into State of Decay 2. Not too long before, the team went on to ship an official Steam version of the game. But, its next title update for the 2018-released game will breathe new life into the game. In that, players can anticipate classic maps of the series to face new graphical improvements adding atmosphere and particle effects to these locales.

From the recent developer livestream, Undead Labs offers a roundup of the plans for Update 29 which you can watch in the video below:

“We’ve revised Cascade Hills: its got a whole new look to the lighting, the rocks, the trees – all of that stuff,” State of Decay 2 Design Director Geoffrey Card explains. “Similarly, we’ve revamped Drucker County: its got that red tone to the rocks, a whole new lighting scheme; feels really light and dry. We’ve refurbished Meager Valley: its got that much longer sight lines to the distance; its got that white mist that sort of makes you feels the distances involved and feels really huge.”

This past fall, State of Decay 2 welcomed a beloved classic to the newer entry: Turnbull County. The setting for the original game was reintroduced as part of the ‘Homecoming’ update which launched in September last year. You can read the full report by heading here.
