Bandai Namco Partners With Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama On New Open-World Title Sand Land

Over the course of these past few years, Bandai Namco has rolled out time and time again Dragon Ball Z titles. At the start of 2020 with Dragon Ball: Kakarot. From our review of the game we wrote “Dragon Ball Kakarot isn’t without faults, but the love, dedication and engaging battle system do the series proud,” with an 8.2/10 score.

Additionally, the publisher went on to ship Dragon Ball: Breakers. The latest release shakes the formula for most Dragon Ball Z titles with its nature featuring online co-op experience as players a new adversary from a different timeline. And in the publisher’s most recent announcement, series creator Akira Toriyama is attached to this new series.

Revealing Sand Land, Toriyama with his iconic art style is front-and-center with this new open-world experience. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Dive into a desert world where both humans and demons suffer from an extreme water shortage. Play as and watch the Fiend Prince, Beelzebub, Sheriff Rao and demon Thief set off on an adventure in search of a Legendary Fountain hidden in the desert. […] In this action RPG, you become the main character as Beelzebub. Lead your company of heroic misfits and explore the legendary world of SAND LAND developed by the creator of Dragon Ball & Dr. Slump, Akira Toriyama.”

The official website goes on to read: “Use your tact and imagination to develop tanks and other vehicles for your adventures utilizing a wide array of part combinations. Build up your base of operations into a thriving city with the help of the people you meet along the way in the vast desert.”
