While originally a grab towards players & fans of the ‘Friday the 13th’ film franchise – surviving campsite massacres or even performing it yourself – Friday the 13th: The Game did kick off as an exciting experience as titles like Dead by Daylight was still establishing itself then too. However, momentum shuttered indefinitely as trouble in legal work halted the title between trademarks for Friday the 13th & Jason Voorhees at the time.

As a result, Gun Media officially rolled out dedicated servers for Friday the 13th: The Game to keep the game afloat despite no more contents for the game are coming. Additionally, the decision was reverted later on in late 2020 as team decided to refocus in-game experiences back to peer-to-peer matchmaking once more.

Now recently, Gun Media shares its officially shelving sales for Friday the 13th: The Game ultimately this year. On the last day of 2023, December 31st, the license for the property expires and both physical & digital sales will be no more. You can view the letterhead below:

“The game will, however, continue to function through at least December 31, 2024, if you already own it. At this time, we’ve made the decision to reduce the price to $4.99 for the base game and $0.99 for each piece of DLC content,” the team explains. “We will continue to offer the title and content at that price point right up until it is removed from digital/physical storefronts on December 31st, 2023.”

Despite the falling out for Friday the 13th: The Game, Gun Media is preparing to launch a new game for another familiar slasher film franchise. Later this August, Texas Chain Saw Massacre is planning to ship with a day one release for Xbox Game Pass. You can read the full report by heading here.
