After years since the last release – Mortal Kombat 11 – and a live-action film shattering expectations on HBO Max, NetherRealm Studios is preparing in anticipation for the launch of the next installment in the series. It was announced earlier this summer that Mortal Kombat 1 will be a fresh telling of the franchise with a new light on the story. Already, there has been a slew of characters confirmed since the initial unveiling.

Over the course of the summer for the September launch for Mortal Kombat 1, over a handful of characters have been verified to hit the game. In that, Smoke & Rain were revealed in a recent trailer. Additionally, Ermac & Quan Chi was also confirmed for the first Kombat Pack. The list also included Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker too for post-launch.

In a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, the next roster addition welcomes Geras to the full game. You can watch the footage in the video below:

Noted, the game will be playable for users come August roughly a month ahead of release. It was revealed that the beta will be open to pre-order holders as it goes live August 18th. Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, and Johnny Cage are confirmed to be playable. However, progress will not be carried over to the full release.

Other noted details pertaining to Mortal Kombat 1 is that the game will be a hefty install. Like most AAA titles now, Mortal Kombat 1 is no different with the release reported to be asking for roughly 100 GB. Client size has not been confirmed for Nintendo Switch just yet.
