Sony Interactive Entertainment held its financial earnings and it revealed new information regarding game sales and hardware sales. As of October 30, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has sold over 5 million copies and PlayStation 5 sales are over 46 million.

During the earnings call, Sony President, COO, and CFO Hiroki Totoki basically confirmed that half of the 12 live service games they’ve had planned will be delayed beyond FY25 with the other half releasing before then.

Thanks to Video Games Chronicle for this quote:

“We are reviewing this… we are trying as much as possible to ensure [these games] are enjoyed and liked by gamers for a long time,” he said. “[Of] the 12 titles, six titles will be released by FY25 – that’s our current plan. [As for] the remaining six titles, we are still working on that.

“That’s the total number of live service and multiplayers titles [and] mid-to-long-term we want to [push] this kind of service and that’s the unchanged policy of the company. It’s not like we stick to certain titles, but game quality should be the most important [thing].”

Some of the games we know PlayStation Studios is working on includes a Horizon and The Last of Us online game and Marathon from Bungie that we knew had been delayed to 2025 already.

Speaking of live service games, Warner Bros. recently came out and said they are planning to go that route as well.
