Nintendo has gone all out on March 10, 2024, also known as Mario Day and it came with a bunch of announcements including the release date for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. Miyamoto also made the announcement that they working on a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros and Nintendo will be working with Illumination once again.
The next Super Mario Bros movie will come to theaters on April 3, 2026 in the United States and many other markets. This is part of their plan to expand Mario’s world further with a bright and fun story.

The Super Mario Bros Movie released April 5, 2023 and it shattered records along the way making it the first video game film to hit $1 Billion globally. If you watched the film already and waited for the post-credit scene you already saw they hinted at a sequel coming eventually.
