When it comes to Xbox, periodic updates for its platform continues to bring new innovations to gaming. Mainly quality of life improvements, these new patches offer better experiences for users on Xbox, PC, and even cloud gaming. This week, we already witnessed this with Xbox Cloud Gaming enabling keyboard & mouse support. Noted, this is available for a list of two dozen predetermined titles currently.
Additionally, there is a larger effort as well for console as well. In one report, it is revealed that Microsoft’s continued push for artificial intelligence is now extending to Xbox. It is understood an AI chatbot is planned for the platform in the near future. What’s more, a new update that went live for preview users now enables a feature not ever considered.
In that, the latest Alpha Ring update for Xbox Insiders that arrived this week now enables users to pre-install software updates. Similar to pre-downloading games on the platform, you can now wager the same thing for title updates ahead of time so you don’t have to wait for it to pass its course when you could be playing already.
“Games that enable support for update pre-download will allow updates to be downloaded days before they are scheduled to release, so you can jump in and start playing right when the update goes live!” Of course, this is for updates applied to games on the platform for console. So instead of watching the download progress, it will occur ahead of time for players to jump right in when they sign-on.
Elsewhere previously, the Xbox app even received an update earlier this year. In January, the official Xbox app welcomed a new update which enabled touch screen controls for playing which acts practically identical to Xbox Cloud Gaming touch screen controls.
