While Halo Infinite has shipped back in 2021, the series has not been at the back of Microsoft’s mind. The title arrived in its truest form that answered plenty for what players can expect from the series in the best way. “The story of Master Chief and Cortana is riveting, the Banished make excellent enemies and the multiplayer is the most fun I’ve had since Halo 3,” our review for the game reads.
But, of course, discussion on the next game is certainly active within the community. While not officially announced, there has been reports that Unreal Engine 5 will be utilized for the next game. What’s more, a LinkedIn profile of one 343 Industries developer corroborates the claim with the Halo team likely to disband its in-house Slipspace Engine in favor for the popular game-making suite.
Now a new update recently went live on LinkedIn revealing more of the direction that Halo will be heading for its next game. In terms of its employment, one legacy Destiny developer is now taking up a leadership role at 343 Industries. From Rebs Gaming, Dan Gniady is now a Lead Game Designer at 343 Industries.
Gniady’s work history includes his involvement in both Destiny & Destiny 2 along with the games’ major expansions during his time at Bungie, working on Hyenas at Creative Assembly, and worked on a number of projects under Activision as well as Red Storm Entertainment on an unannounced Ghost Recon title. Now, he’s overseeing “game direction on a Halo experience. Giving the Covenant back their bomb,” his LinkedIn profile reads.
If this sounds like a familiar tune, it’s because this was previously witnessed upon the development for Halo Infinite. Prior to its release, veteran developer Joseph Staten returned to Xbox to work on the new title bringing a radical change to the internal effort then. In April 2023, Staten officially departed from Microsoft. You can read the full report by heading here.
What do you hope Gniady has to offer to the next Halo title?
