One of the most anticipated release for Sonic the Hedgehog is coming later this fall. That is Sonic X Shadow Generations. While a cut-for-cut remaster of the classic 2010 release, it now features a new campaign starring the Ultimate Lifeform – hence the title. Releasing this October, the game is planned to arrive to modern systems, of course.

However, there has been an issue with legacy titles from Team Sonic in an effort of preservation. For roughly a decade, Sonic the Hedgehog (06) was unavailable on the Xbox 360 marketplace before its return. What’s more, Sega in a swift move ahead of the release for Sonic Origins severed listings for multiple classic Sonic the Hedgehog titles then as well.

In a recent development on the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations, Sega has properly confirmed the same fate is coming to the original Sonic Generations next month. On September 9th, the game will be delisted on Xbox & Steam. However, current bundles including the game will still remain in a move to support preservation.

“Therefore, Sonic Generations will still be available via bundles of other iconic Sonic titles on Steam and Xbox. Existing owners of the title will still be able to download and play, as well. Lastly, we are happy to confirm that mods on the Steam version will NOT be affected!” Sega added in a second statement in the post.

What is also confirmed for Sonic X Shadow Generations is Chao Garden to be absent. Speaking to Video Game Chronicle, Takashi Iizuka said the beloved game mode is not in the new title. However, he is interested to possible offer a version of it in the future possibly. You can read the full report by heading here.
