When it comes to exploring PlayStation’s exotic & unique repertoire of franchises and IPs, there is not much Sony Interactive Entertainment is doing to realize its history on modern consoles. Yes, while there is the new release Astro Bot which champions the legacy that was left by PlayStation for the past 30 years, there is no actions beyond featuring its games aside from the in-game cameos.

Rectify Gaming in our review for Astro Bot even regards the game to be one of the best releases this year. “Team ASOBI did an outstanding job with Astro Bot, a delightful yet playful platformer that is sure to capture the hearts of many gamers, and one that I found difficult to put down once I started playing,” we wrote. But more of the titles that many players reflect on referenced in the game are still left as a memory.

Regarding the upcoming release of Lego Horizon Adventures, Guerrilla Games art director Roy Postma spoke with The Washington Post in which he revealed that the team is permanently done with one of its other classic series – Killzone. Postma explains that the team needed a “refresh” for its in-game portrayals and Killzone is not the answer for that.

“We were done with it as a team. As a studio, we needed to refresh the palette. It was, by choice, the opposite of ‘Killzone,’” Postma said in the interview. “I think the themes that this story and the characters represent are relatable for all ages and people, like having a found family of friends and finding your place in the world.”

Unfortunately, this is not the first sign of the downfall of Killzone. Back in 2021, there was evidence that Guerrilla Games & Sony Interactive Entertainment is deciding to relinquish its backing for the series. In that, the official website for the series was not renewed expressing that drive for new games is simply not there. You can read the full report by heading here.
