Yooka Re-Playlee on Switch 2 features the full game on cartridge

Since the Nintendo Switch 2 was released, many fans have been disappointed to learn that many third-party developers have been releasing their games with game-key cards. While you can buy most games in a physical case with the cartridge, you’ll still have to download the entire game when you put it in your  Switch 2.

Aside from first-party releases like Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World, very few third-party games have chosen to release a true physical game. It was announced today that Playtonic will be releasing Yooka-Re-Playlee on the Nintendo Switch 2, and it will have the full game on the cartridge.

This was revealed by Video Games Plus.

What Does This Mean For Yooka-Re-Playlee On Switch 2?

Since Yooka-Re-Playlee will have the full game on the cartridge, this means you will not have to download the entire game on the Switch 2 when you put it in the console. Essentially, the game-key cards are a glorified version of an eShop purchase that you can share or trade in.

Yooka-Re-Playlee will cost $50 on Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles. A release date has not been revealed yet for the game by the developer or publisher.
