This new season comes with its own league, The Rise of the Abyssals. When you dive into Abysses, you can uncover Ancient Bones preserved from the fallen Lichborn. These bones aren’t just random creepy loot, but they’re a brand-new crafting currency.
You can use this currency on your gear to add a hidden Abyssal modifier called a Veiled mod. To reveal or unveil its powers, you will need to find and unlock the Well of Souls deep into the dungeons of the Abyss in Act 2. Once you unlock it, you will be able to throw your item into the Well of Soul, and you’ll be given a choice. Three different modifiers to pick from. What is Well of Souls in PoE 2?
The Well of Souls is a new crafting system in Path of Exile 2 that allows you to unveil Desecrated Modifiers on items and waystones. Use Ancient Bones to use these modifiers. Close the Abyssal fissures to collect these Ancient Bones. This new system is introduced in the Patch 0.3.0 (Third Edict update). Get to the Well of Souls after imbuing the item or waystone with a bone to choose from three different modifiers.
Doing so allows you to tactical layer to the crafting system in the game. However, this new system has not been added to the Standard League. Make sure to create a Rise of the Abyssal league character and progress through to Act II to get access to the Well Souls. You can even use the Well of Souls to enhance the level of difficulty and the rewards by revealing the imbued effect on waystones.
How To Unlock Well of Souls
Create a character in the Rise of the Abyssal League, as it’s crucial to gain access to Well of Souls in Path of Exile 2. Get to the Lightless Passage in the Mastodon Badlands by progressing through Act I and Act II.
Recreate the Horn of the Vastiri while completing the quest. After that, you can locate the Well of Souls inside the Lightless Passage. Well of Souls becomes accessible via the map screen after unlocking it in the game. The Lightless Passage in Act 2 of Path of Exile 2 is located in the Mastodon Badlands.
Walk through the edges of the Mastodon Badlands map till you find a dirt path that will take you to the Lightless passage. There will be a Lurking Creature inside that will have a quest marker over it. Interacting with it allows the Hooded One to appear and provide you with the ability to use the Well of Souls. Similar to the Ascendancy Trials and hideouts, the Well of Souls will appear on the side of your World Map screen.
How to Use the Well of Souls
The Well of Souls in POE 2 is used to reveal the Modifier of an item or Waystone. You need to acquire a bone by clearing an Abyssal encounter. Add the abyssal modifier by utilizing the bone or any rare item. After that, you need to make your way to the Well of Souls and select any of the modifiers. Use the preserved bone item to desecrate the rare gear. Clear an Abyss to acquire the preserved Bone items from Abyssal Troves.
