Discover everything you need to know about healing in Hollow Knight Silksong, including use tips & tricks for it.
Healing in Hollow Knight Silksong is a crucial mechanic, but it works differently from other games. Your healing ability is called bind, where Hornet manifests Silk Strings around herself to gain health. The initial heal is for three full masks. This can be easy to forget in the heat of battle. Enemies in the game can deal damage and lower your HP, so learning how to heal is crucial for every aspect.
Players can use any methods to heal, but choosing the best one is also important. Consider a focus on dodging and striking with a silk attack as a good approach to tackling enemies. Hornet can also heal while mid-air while fighting the boss in combat. Resting on a bench and using Bind allows you to heal your character, enhancing the survivability. In this guide, we’ll discuss how to heal in Hollow Knight Silksong, including some useful tips on when to heal.
How To Heal in Hollow Knight Silksong
There are basically two distinct methods to heal your character whenever low on HP during the journey. Using a bind and sitting on a bench allows you to heal your character. While resting on the bench, not only do you heal, but you also save the game.
Use a Bind To Heal

The best way to heal your character in Hollow Knight Silksong is to use Bind. There’s a small bar under your health bar that is filled while fighting the enemies in combat. You can perform bind pressing A on your controller on Xbox, X on PlayStation, or B on Nintendo Switch when that bar is full. The more you hit the enemy, the more quickly the bar will fill.
The bar is called Silk, and you can use it to heal your character after an intense fight or use your skills. Use the Silk by consuming the Bind ability via holding its designated button. This allows the Hornet to replenish three masks after a few seconds. You can use Bind when the Silk is full, allowing you to hear a sound.
We recommend you use this method to heal your character after a tough encounter with enemies. Make sure you’re vulnerable while you’re binding. The other thing you need to be aware of is not to hit anything during this healing process. Interrupted by the enemy attacks will result in the full depletion of Silk. This will make you vulnerable, as you will not be able to heal or use any ability till the Silk is filled again.
Hitting the enemy allows you to refill the spool of thread. However, you will hear a dull noise and the spool will shake if you try to heal before it gets full. You will not get any healing if you take any hits from the enemy during the animation. This method is more effective after or before the combat, as you heal instantly.
Rest on the Bench

You will encounter several benches during your journey. Resting on these benches allows you to save the game and heal your character as well. You will respawn to the last saved point if you die while progressing. Press Up in your D-Pad when you near any bench. You need Rosaries to activate some benches in the game.
Make sure to carry 30 Rosaries in your inventory to use when required. You will also get markers for your bench from Shakra. This will show all benches on your map, making it easy to save the game and heal yourself. Sitting and resting on the bench is the best thing you can do during your journey, as it acts as a save point. However, you will not gain any charge in your spool of thread by resting on the bench.
