It has been reported by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson that PlayStation 6 is going to release with a detachable disc drive when it launches.
The detachable disc drive was introduced a couple of years ago in the new slim model of the PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Pro. According to the outlet’s sources, the detachable disc drive will remain a feature going into the next generation.
Customers would be able to purchase the PlayStation 6 as a digital console or a traditional console bundle with the disc drive, or they can upgrade later by purchasing the disc drive separately. No other details were released by the insider for PS6.
In other PlayStation-related news, there will be a PS5 revision that will reduce the console’s internal storage while the price will remain the same.
While the disc drive being on the PlayStation 6 isn’t a huge surprise it will give excitement to current players who prefer buying physical games. Recently, third-party publishers had been receiving backlash for their games on Switch 2 for not receiving true physical copies.
When do you think the PS6 will release?
