Discover everything you need to know about the location of Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4, including how to beat it.

Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4 is one of the more challenging bosses in the game, mainly because of how annoying he is to fight. This optional boss resides in Whistler’s Maw, which is part of the Abandoned Augur Mine in Cuspid Climb, in the Terminus Range region of Kairos.
Defeating this boss can be challenging due to his ability to become invisible with the help of his shield. Destroy the shield as soon as possible to make it visible to deal damage with your best weapon. There are the legendary items that can drop upon finishing off the Shadowpelt. The boss can be farmed after the first kill to get more legendary drops. In this guide, we’ll discuss Shadowpelt’s location and drops in Borderlands 4, including some useful tips to defeat this boss.
Where to Find Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4

Players can find the Shadowpelt in Whistler’s Maw. This is essentially an abandoned auger mine located in the middle part of Cuspid Climb in the Terminus Range. Completing the Shadow of the Mountain grants Clave. Upon acquiring the Clave, you can get access to the Whistler’s Maw in the game. Terminus Range is the first mission to complete.
Make your way to the cave and follow the path. Move to The Reliquary Order Silo in the Cuspid Climb to locate the Augur Mine. Cuspid Climb is the portion of the Terminus Range. Now, travel north and find the entrance in the mountain beneath the ledge. Here, you can get your hands on the Terminus Range Vault Key Fragments. Get inside the cave and defeat all the enemies over there.
Crawl through the vent to find Ammo and Medic Vending Machines. This boss is no joke, as it can make you realize that you need to start working properly on my build.

How To Defeat Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4

Shadowpelt has a blue and a red health bar, but there’s something to consider here. When that blue health bar is active and it does regenerate, Shadowpelt will be invisible. Due to his incredibly high speed and the way the invisibility blends into the dark cave background, it can be really tricky to see this boss. That’s why you want to burn him down as fast as you can. This is because when the shield is broken, he stays visible.
Shadowpelt’s most devastating attacks are when he jumps and slams into the ground, dealing high damage in a large pulsating AoE. The follow-up to that is a series of orbs that radiate outwards from the slam location, which also deals a massive amount of damage. Make sure to bring a Shock weapon to remove his shield.
The boss becomes visible for 15 seconds, making him vulnerable to damage during this duration. Deal as much damage during this phase to lower his health. The shield regenerates after 15 seconds, so be aware of that as well. The red bar is his main health bar, and elemental weapons deal elemental damage.

Use short and mid-range weapons because the boss’s mechanics are fast-paced, and he will constantly try to rush towards you. The boss unleashes Shock Orbs in all directions to deal lethal damage when Shadowpelt jumps while being invisible. So, make sure to use shields and survival skills to mitigate the damage. Use a grenade or the CHROMA Accelerator to knock him down, allowing you to deal massive damage with your best weapon.
- Use Shock or shield-piercing gear to reduce the damage effect from the boss.
- Keep moving in the arena to avoid taking any hits from the boss, or else the boss will jump towards you and kill you pretty easily.
- Use high-damage weapons and focus fire to burn whenever the shield is removed for 15 seconds.
- Keep using healing items to maintain your health, along with crowd-control to dominate the boss.
Loot Drops from Shadowpelt

Below are all the loot drops you can collect after defeating Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4.
| Drops | Description |
|---|---|
| Slippy (Grenade) | Deals melee damage on detonation. |
| Sparky Shield (Shield) | While Energy Shield is not full, it periodically shocks nearby enemies |
| Vamoose (Snooper Rifle) | The weapon fires a full magazine at once while aiming down sights. |
| Birt’s Bees (SMG) | All shots fired have tracking and don’t require aiming at enemies. |
Defeating the bosses like Sludgemaw and Battle Wagon also allows you to gain access to weapons obtained from Shadowpelt. Slippy is a grenade ordinance that has the unique effect of Swordfish. When thrown, the grenade multiplies slightly and deals melee damage to all enemies in an AoE.
The second is the Sparky Shield. This is an energy shield with a unique short-circuit effect. While the energy shield is not full, it periodically shocks nearby enemies for a burst of damage. Finally, there’s the Vamoose, a legendary ripper sniper that deals corrosive damage and has the unique effect Scarce.
There’s no actual description in the game of what the effect does, but if you fire the weapon, you’ll see that after a brief windup time, you shoot out an entire magazine over the course of a second. With the increased chance for loot thanks to Moxy’s big encore, I definitely encourage you to take the opportunity to farm the Shadowpelt and scoop up as many legendaries as you can. Outside of the weekly event, drop rates can be a bit fickle, so you’ll want to capitalize on that.
