Sonic the Hedgehog 4 movie could be renamed to Sonic CD, insider suggests

Sega and Paramount Pictures wasted no time in announcing that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be coming to theaters in 2027. The movie will introduce a few new characters from the Sonic universe, with Amy leading the way.

Now that we’ve gotten an entire trilogy of the Sonic movies, there is consideration of taking the number out of the name for the next film. According to reliable movie insider, DanielRPK, Paramount is considering renaming the fourth Sonic movie to “Sonic CD”, just like the game it is based on.

Sonic CD was released in 1993 and introduced Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, which also featured a time travel mechanic. It would make sense for the movie to be named this and would line up with the video game series.

This would be similar to the next Mario movie, which is titled “Super Mario Galaxy Movie”, just like the video games.
