Square Enix has finally brought Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade to the Nintendo Switch 2, and it could be a great showcase for what the console can do. Previously, we reviewed the Final Fantasy VII Remake, but this time we are providing our impressions on the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade doesn’t waste time introducing you to the action. First, you are introduced to Wedge, Biggs, Jessie, and then Barrett, along with some enemies you’ll get familiar with. The bombing mission is the first amount of chaos you’ll get into, and immediately, the game proves it runs flawlessly on the Switch 2.

Best Third-Party Game On Switch 2?
The Nintendo Switch 2 is only just over six months old, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is easily one of, if not the best third-party game, the system has to offer. It’s what I like to say, a great showcase game for the console aside from Nintendo’s own titles.
The game on Switch 2 offers fantastic lighting and smooth gameplay in handheld and docked modes. The only thing that I see a big difference in is that the wall textures look more dull compared to other versions. There might be minor gameplay aspects that may not shine the best on this version, but it’s barely noticeable.

Gameplay Impressions
The gameplay in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is fun and chaotic, in a good way. Even for newcomers like myself, I prefer this style of gameplay rather than it being turn-based. Having control of other team members during battle is also fun because it still has those strategic elements, such as which Materia should I give to Tifa, Barrett, or Aerith.
I never had a moment during a very chaotic battle where frames dropped on Switch 2. Even in the Jenova fight toward the finale of the game, I did not drop a frame when the console was docked. It’s probably the most fun I’ve had playing a Final Fantasy game so far; however, I am also someone who hasn’t played all the games in the series yet.
Minigames are featured in this first part of the Remake, but there isn’t enough in my opinion. I wish there were more to do between side quests and minigames.

Visuals
The first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake shines on the Switch 2, delivering a visually impressive experience that immediately pulls you into Midgar. Character models look sharp, lighting adds real depth to scenes, and the overall presentation feels cinematic from the opening moments. During combat and major story beats, the game often looks fantastic, and the sense of scale and atmosphere remains strong.
There are some rough spots if you look closely, particularly with wall and environmental textures during cutscenes or slower gameplay, but they are minor in the bigger picture. The opening hours are still polished, engaging, and visually striking, making a strong first impression that easily outweighs those small technical blemishes.

Audio
I think where Final Fantasy always shines is its audio design, from in-game sound effects to the music. First, the music is incredible in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. It’s easily one of the best in-game soundtracks in gaming overall. The audio elements, such as fighting battles is as detailed as you can get with nasty enemies sticking onto you and hearing the in-depth sounds of their attacks.

Is Final Fantasy 7 Remake Worth It On Switch 2?
Without a doubt, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is worth the price of $40 on the Nintendo Switch 2. You are paying half the price it should be, arguably. While the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a fantastic game within itself, the port to Nintendo Switch 2 is even more impressive from Square Enix. This has me hopeful for when Rebirth comes to the platform.
With some minor setbacks, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade is a fantastic re-imagination of the classic for newcomers or Final Fantasy veterans.
