The Legend of Zelda movie has finished filming

Sony announced during CinemaCon 2026 that The Legend of Zelda movie has wrapped production. First images of the film were revealed in November by director Wes Ball.

“We just wrapped production on Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda, perhaps on the most beloved gaming franchise of all time that sold over 180 million copies in four decades,” Sanford Panitch said to Hollywood Reporter.

Sony has reiterated that the movie will release worldwide on May 7, 2027. The film will star Bo Bragason as Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play the role of Link. There haven’t been any other cast reveals for the movie yet. However, the expectation is that get revealed as we get closer to the release.

In other news, it was also revealed during CinemaCon that the next Minecraft movie will be titled “A Minecraft Sequel“. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is another hit for Nintendo as it reached over $500 Million in its first two weeks of release at the worldwide box office.
