Nintendo released its latest Financial Results that ended on March 31, 2026, revealing sales numbers on hardware and software. It was revealed that the Switch hit 155.92 million units sold. The Nintendo Switch 2 has now reached 19.86 million units sold, reaching the goal the company had for its first year.
The Switch 2 was released on June 5, 2025, and became the fastest-selling console launch in history. It sold 3.5 million in its first four days of release. In March, it was announced that Switch 2 production was being cut by 30%. When the console first started production, Nintendo had essentially overproduced to make sure stock kept up after release.
As far as Software Sales, Mario Kart World leads the way with 14.70M:
- Mario Kart World – 14.70M
- Donkey Kong Bananza – 4.52M
- Pokemon Pokopia – 4M
- Pokemon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Edition – 3.94M
- Kirby Air Riders – 1.87M
The next few months are set for the Switch 2 with Splatoon Raiders, Star Fox, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Next month, there is an expectation that there will be a Nintendo Direct happening to reveal future game releases. The Switch 2 will see a price increase starting September 1.
Nintendo expects the year-on-year sales to decline in FY27 for the Switch 2.
