The Fortnite cross-play party comes to an end for Nintendo Switch users since they will no longer be matched with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users.

A hard decision for Epic Games to make, but makes sense due to an issue of the Switch having trouble keeping up with its console counterparts.

While the PS4 and XBONE versions run at 60 fps, the Switch begins to slow down during gun fights since it locks at 30 fps, making surviving even more of a task since some players cannot react as fast. It was discovered that this is a “bullet glitch“, leaving Switch Fortnite players susceptible to even more bullets. This doesn’t leave Switch owners completely alone, they will continue to go up against iOS and Android users. We will have to wait and see if this change improves the experience for Switch owners and adds a little more balance to the matches.

More information on the Switch version of Fortnite is available from Digital Foundry.
