Respawn Entertainment when initially dropping Apex Legends back in February left a major impression on the battle royale genre for both the surprise, free-to-play launch from publisher Electronic Arts as well as the features that came along with the Titanfall-based first-person shooter.

Enough of an influence that one of the features from the game has been noted and implemented into another competing battle royale, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. This new gameplay element that has been added in the latest update allows players to auto-equip weapon attachments to their firearm once being entered into their inventory.

This update also marks the first game update to PUBG that has been applied to the console version of the title before the PC version. Unlike Fortnite or already mentioned Apex, the development team rolls out updates for the battle royale in random instances rather than scheduled seasonal releases.

Epic Games’ Fortnite has been witnessed to adding similar features to the title which originally deprived from Apex Legends in previous updates, so it is expected the same notion would also apply to PUBG Corp’s title also.

In related news to PUBG, the game’s developer has opened a new studio in San Ramon, Striking Distance. Dead Space and Call of Duty developer Glen Schofield will be taking the helm of the studio to bring “an original narrative to the PUBG universe.” The announcement of Schofield’s involvement does give hope for a truly unique experience as the battle royale is looking ot expand genres.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, and PC.
