Less than a month ago, Gamescom Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley announced that there will be over 15 different publishers that will be taking the stage at this year’s first annual presentation to showcase a bevy of never-before seen World Premieres. One listed from the tweet was Sony Interactive Entertainment, which made the news even more interesting as with how little we know about the publisher’s upcoming lineup: that being Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part II, and Ghosts of Tsushima.
Announced at the event this Monday, Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed that live-action story title Erica has a release date, which will follow the announcement that same day. Developed by Flavourworks, Erica follows the story of the titular protagonist who lives through a distorted experience following the murder of her father.
Erica is in serach for answers to reveal the reasoning for her father’s abrupt death and along the way must make decisions that will ultimately carve the path ahead of her. “With the traumatic events that have haunted you as a child dragged back into the light of the present day vis grisly new clues, it’s up to you to unearth the shocking truth behind this devastating tragedy. Every choice you make influences how the game develops, with multiple endings awaiting you at the finale of the emotional branching narrative.”
Unlike more traditional titles we have experienced before, Erica breaks into another level of immersion with the help of the Dualshock 4 which you will use to interact when progressing deeper into the plot. Atop of the high production value that the game presents through capturing the protagonist’s story, Flavourworks also offers a “filmic score” of Austin Wintory: who has previous work composed for Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Journey, and The Banner Saga 3.
Alongside the newly released title for Sony’s console, Nintendo Switch also received two new titles via shadow drop. Revealed at the Indie World Direct hosted prior to the Gamescom presentation, Nintendo announced that Superhot and Hotline Miami Collection are available now on the Nintendo eShop.
Erica is out now for PlayStation 4.
