The latest PlayStation State of Play live streamed presentation officially confirmed the long-awaited and highly speculated February-aimed release date for Naughty Dog’s The Last of US Part II. While fans will only have to wait a few short months until the upcoming sequel finally launches, more news outside of the recent livestream emerged surrounding the title.
According to the Best Buy listing for the game’s Special Edition, the overview for the title reveals that the game will be divided up between two separate discs. Although this generation has adopted the use of Blu-Ray discs and drives, the steadily increase of assets in AAA developed titles have shown to be exceeding the capacity of just one individual disc.
This is not the first time we have witnessed two different discs for a game: back in October, Rockstar Games did just that when releasing the physical version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Noted, this will not be alike how Rockstar’s L.A. Noire was as each disc will be required to access different segments of the title, instead it will just include the download client and the second disc will play the game.
Of course, this in no way affects those who choose to purchase the game digitally, but for the more devoted fans who prefer a physical version atop of a specialized edition of the game, it just shows that we are already maxing the capabilities of our current hardware past the brim and just around the corner for the next generation of consoles.
Do you plan on getting The Last of US Part II physically or purchase the game via the PlayStation Store?
The Last of US Part II will be coming to PlayStation 4 on February 21, 2020.
