Mortal Kombat 11 Gains Cross-Play Between Xbox And PlayStation

Players since the game’s debut in April have been fighting it out locally through the dedicated servers for Mortal Kombat 11 on their respected platform, either that being Xbox, PlayStation, PC, or Switch. But now, users will be able to bridge games between systems, at least some of them.

Netherrealm Studios announced recently that the latest installment for the developer’s notorious fighter will be receiving cross-platform play support. However, this will only be granted to both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. Netherrealm clarifies that the team is currently testing the feature, explaining its exclusivity to the two consoles.

Dubbed as ‘Krossplay’, players on either system will have the option to toggle the feature to play against users on the opposing platform. Additionally there are two ways to do so: turning on the feature and searching for a match or joining the Krossplay Online rooms designated specifically to play with users on the other console. More so, Netherrealm confirms that your progress will still be accessible, but transferring to another system is not available.

While Krossplay is still in the testing phase currently, the studio goes on to share that support for the remaining Switch and PC versions will continue to be developed as players set the foundation for the available build for Krossplay.
