This past Thursday, Microsoft in an unseen announcement which debuted the name of the upcoming Xbox console, the Xbox Series X. Or that’s what we might assume the new system be called from the titling of next year’s unit from the announcement trailer. However, it looks that upon a closer lens we might have overlooked the titling of the next generation unit altogether.
According to a recent report from Business Insider, we the masses have actually misinterpreted how Microsoft plans to actually market next year’s console. When in reality, the new unit will simply be called ‘Xbox’ as clarified by a representative from Microsoft. Referencing the wording and size of font for the new Xbox Series X, it is apparent that the new product is just “Xbox” while there will be differing iterations, hence the Series X.
The name we’re carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox. And at The Game Awards you saw that name come to life through the Xbox Series X.
Understandably, there is backing towards this notion to break for simplicity when it comes to consumers: referencing to the Series X specifically, many already went to jump the gun to express the overuse of alliteration alone with the ‘x’s and its transparent similarity to the already available Xbox One X. Now with this new clarification, it indicates that users should be more satisfied as Microsoft is using this new line of hardware to rebrand along the way.
Additionally, it is expected that the next version that will be involved with the new family of Xbox consoles will certainly be related to the unannounced Project Lockhart system which was recently reported to be planned for release alongside the coming Series X unit as well.
Does this new explanation help ease the confusion initially?
Xbox Series X will be available next Holiday season.
