Summary

7.5/10

For puzzle fans, though, Puzzling Places is a fantastic experience. It is relaxing, satisfying, and packed with beautifully recreated locations. Sometimes it's nice to play a game that simply lets you unwind, and Puzzling Places does exactly that.

Puzzling Places is one of those games that is easy to overlook at first, but once you start playing, it becomes surprisingly hard to put down. The concept is simple. You take hundreds of puzzle pieces and slowly assemble detailed 3D models of real world locations from around the globe. There are no timers, no scores, and no pressure. Just relaxing puzzle solving at your own pace.

What makes Puzzling Places stand out from a traditional jigsaw puzzle is that everything is built in 3D. As pieces snap together, buildings, streets, landmarks, and entire scenes slowly come to life in front of you. The attention to detail is impressive, and many puzzles include small animations and environmental sounds that make the locations feel alive.

The game includes 18 unique locations, ranging from historic landmarks to cozy streets and villages. Each puzzle can be played with different piece counts, starting at just 25 pieces and going all the way up to 1000 pieces for those looking for a serious challenge. I especially appreciated the Journey Mode, which feeds you smaller groups of pieces at a time and makes larger puzzles feel far less overwhelming.

Puzzling Places also works great whether you’re playing on PC, Steam Deck, or in VR. While VR is easily the most immersive way to play, I found myself enjoying it just as much on a standard screen when I wanted to relax for a bit before bed.

The biggest downside is that if you are not someone who enjoys puzzles, there is not much here that will change your mind. At its core, this is still a jigsaw puzzle game. There is no story campaign or progression system pushing you forward. The enjoyment comes entirely from the process of building each model.

For puzzle fans, though, Puzzling Places is a fantastic experience. It is relaxing, satisfying, and packed with beautifully recreated locations. Sometimes it’s nice to play a game that simply lets you unwind, and Puzzling Places does exactly that.
